Just right in time for summer!
Omega recently unveiled a bold new addition to its popular Seamaster Diver 300M collection, with the choice of colour this time being ‘Orange’. How many of you have noticed that the orange colour is more often than not used on dive watches? Perhaps because orange is one of the most visible colours underwater, offering a strong contrast against the green or blue hues, helping divers quickly read the time or dive duration.
Apart from its functional proficiency, orange is also a stylistic nod to vintage watches. Throughout the past 20 years, Omega has used the orange colour on various Seamaster models, and now this bright and vibrant colour finds its way into the Diver 300M for the first time.
Is it a hit or a miss? Let’s find out.
What’s new?
The Seamaster collection is Omega’s longest-running line and a cornerstone of the brand’s identity. Over the decades, the Seamaster Diver has evolved from a refined dress watch into a professional dive instrument, earning acclaim for its reliability, performance and association with iconic figures such as James Bond.

Recently, the Swiss watchmaker dropped a pair of updated Seamaster Diver 300M models, one presented on a steel mesh bracelet and the other on a bright orange rubber strap. Both editions feature stunning orange accents (a first for the Seamaster Diver 300M) while retaining the model’s heritage.
The ‘NEW’ Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in ‘Orange’
- 42mm Stainless Steel Case
This 42mm model is crafted from stainless steel and features the familiar brushed and polished finish, characteristic of previous 300M models. It is 13.8mm thick and measures 49.7mm lug-to-lug. Other features include twisted lugs, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock and crown guards at 3 o’clock.
- Anodised Aluminium Bezel
It features a black, oxalic anodised aluminium bezel ring with a 60-minute diving scale in white Super-LumiNova. The bezel has a matte black finish that perfectly matches the dial.
- Black Sandblasted Aluminium Dial
Omega uses black aluminium to create the dial, which now has a flat, matte-textured finish instead of the signature wave pattern. A few drops of orange are introduced, with the rectangular indices at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock coated in a glossy orange varnish, along with the lollipop seconds hand. The name “Seamaster” underneath the Omega logo at 12 o’clock is also printed in a matching orange. It doesn’t have a date window.
The rhodium-plated skeletonised hour and minute hands, along with the round markers, provide the perfect balance to the dial setup. A domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the watch face. The hour and seconds hands have their lume matching the hour markers. Similarly, the green lume on the minute hand matches the lume on the bezel, making it perfect for keeping track of elapsed dive duration.

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in orange is here to tell you the time, display the elapsed dive duration, and make a bold and stylish statement on the wrist.
- Mesh Bracelet or Orange Rubber Strap
The amount of orange on your wrist increases when you decide whether to opt for the mesh bracelet or an orange, curved-end rubber strap. For a discreet look, opt for the steel mesh-style bracelet, as seen on the Seamaster Diver 300M (Ref: 210.30.42.20.01.018). The orange accents are relatively minimal and subtle, but they do give the watch a nice summer-like vibe.
On the other hand, the bright orange strap on the Seamaster Diver 300M (Ref. 210.32.42.20.01.006), featuring a deployment clasp, is rather bold and vibrant, making heads turn wherever you go.
- Self-winding Calibre 8806 Movement
Powering the watch is the Calibre 8806, which is Master Chronometer-certified by METAS, as indicated on the dial. This automatic movement boasts a water resistance of 300 metres and provides a 55-hour power reserve. It runs at a frequency of 25,200 vph, which means the watch is accurate to 0/+6 seconds per day.
Additionally, the movement benefits from the advanced silicon Si14 balance spring, which offers magnetic resistance of up to 15,000 gauss. Regarding aesthetics, the calibre features bridges with arabesque Geneva stripes, a rhodium-plated rotor, and the barrel, screws, and balance wheel all have a stunning black finish. The best part? You get to appreciate this entire work of art through the sapphire window on the case back.

What We Think..
When we first learned about the arrival of an orange Seamaster Diver 300M, we immediately pictured a full orange bezel. But, after a hands-on session, we think this is a black Seamaster with striking orange accents.
While the watch isn’t necessarily revolutionary, it’s definitely a very compelling option, with the execution being quite playful. Orange and Black combination isn’t new in watchmaking, and Omega is certainly not new to this colourway.
The modest, matte black dial and bezel, combined with the orange accents, make for a quite appealing appearance. The watch doesn’t have the glossy effect, which is a common issue with some Seamaster Diver 300M models. On the wrist, it wears pleasantly, considering its size.
However, we also feel that with this new release, Omega could have injected a bit more vitamin C into the aluminium bezel. That, in our opinion, would have been the perfect execution of an orange-y new Seamaster. The dial also gets subtle hints of the colour and maintains a clean and tidy design for improved legibility.
Unlike the previous Omega watches with orange highlights, the orange accents on this Seamaster Diver 300M serve aesthetic purposes rather than functional ones. This time, the orange accents are present only to give the Seamaster Diver 300M a more casual appearance, which has indeed worked out for Omega. It’s an attractive variation, perfect for those who find the current monochromatic black dial Seamaster variant a bit bland.
All in all, the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in orange, whether paired with the rubber strap or mesh bracelet, doesn’t fail to create a lasting impact.
