Cartier doesn’t do mainstream in Watches and Wonders, and this year was no different – instead, it was a curious one. ‘Metamorphosis’ is the thread of Cartier’s Watches and Wonders 2025 Edition, and this is particularly evident in the way the Maison has designed its new launches, inspired by great designs and respect for proportions.
Every novelty Cartier has proposed for 2025 illuminates the brand’s extensive historical archives and shows why the French jeweller continues to capture the attention of collectors and style leaders alike.
Without further ado, let’s go over the Cartier highlights for this year’s Watches and Wonders.
1. Return of the ‘Cartier Tank à Guichets’
Raising the curtain is the biggest Cartier release—the Cartier Tank à Guichets. Cartier brings back the legendary Tank à Guichets, which was first introduced in 1928. So, this rectangular series of watches with a digital display of the time and separate displays for minutes and jumping hours is actually almost a century old!
Previously, the Tank à Guichets was part of the Privée Cartier Paris Collection in 2005 in rose gold. The Tank à Guichets’ ingenious design stood out from other conventional models by completely eliminating hands. Instead, time is displayed digitally through two windows—one for the minutes and one for the hours—a concept that reflects the growing pace of life and the rise of mechanisation.
Cartier has introduced four new Tank à Guichets this year, three of which are regular production models in rose gold, yellow gold, or platinum, and the fourth is a 200-piece limited edition in platinum.

Three of the four Tank à Guichets watches reissue the 1928 design with the minute aperture at 6 o’clock and the hour aperture at 12 o’clock. The fourth platinum version has two apertures are placed strategically at an angle. The hour window is placed at 10 o’clock, and the minute display is at 4 o’clock. This design pays tribute to the rich period of the 1930s when aesthetic innovation peaked.
All four versions feature the same sleek proportions: 37.6mm long, 6mm thick, and 24.8mm wide. They come in closed brushed gold/platinum rectangular cases interrupted by only two small windows. The watches are operated by Cartier’s new in-house hand-wound 9755 MC movement, made specifically for this model with dragging minutes and jumping hours. As you can understand from seeing the pieces, they aren’t water-resistant.
A fun detail is that the crown is now located on the case top at 12 o’clock instead of the usual 3 o’clock. Another fun detail is that every precious metal gets a unique colour for the printed numerals, which match the colour of the leather strap. For instance, green for yellow gold, burgundy for platinum, and grey for rose gold.

2. Cartier Tank Louis Cartier is ‘Amplified’
The creative potential of the iconic Cartier Tank is inexhaustible. Thanks to its brilliant style, Cartier has, once again, re-imagined and curated a larger version while maintaining all the hallmarks of the iconic design.
At a glance, these new Tank Louis Cartier models look familiar, as not much has changed on the outside but on the inside.

Two new Tank Louis Cartier models are presented in yellow and rose gold. The case now measures 38.1mm x 27.75mm and is 8.18 mm thick, delivering a modern edge to the wrist presence while preserving the Tank’s graceful proportions. The cases are slightly bigger than their manual-winding counterparts, which means these new Tank LC models are powered by Cartier’s new in-house automatic 1899 MC movement, offering 40 hours of power reserve and 30 metres of water resistance.
The silvered flinqué dial decorates classic Roman numerals, blue sword-shaped hands and a clever ‘Cartier’ signature integrated at VII – a tribute to Cartier’s mastery of discreet design. In true Louis Cartier fashion, the XL models are worn on grey or brown semi-matte alligator leather straps, depending on the case metal.

3. Wildly Precious ‘Cartier Panthère’
At Watches and Wonders 2025, Cartier has yet again highlighted its iconic glamour-inspired collection – the Cartier Panthère, where the new Panthère watches have undergone a spectacular jewelled transformation.
Five new Panthère models are released with creatively set gemstones to produce stunning results – two in yellow and rose gold respectively and the other in rose gold, combining unique ‘tiger’ and ‘zebra’ motifs.
Let’s discuss the showstopper. The first Cartier Panthère de Cartier wears a distinct coat combining tiger and zebra motifs featuring brown and black lacquer and gem-set stripes made of diamonds, orange and yellow spessartites. The emblematic bracelet of this Panthère timepiece has its link adorned like a myriad of jewelled gradations; all set one by one. Even the dial is inspired by zebra stripping. There are 314 diamonds on the case and 145 snow-set stones on the dial, along with 86 spessartites.
This medium model in rose gold measures 36.5mm x 26.7mm x 6.8mm. Everything makes this watch a work of graphic magic, seamlessly combining colour and stone to create something vibrant and abundant.

The other four versions are in rose gold and yellow gold—two diamond-paved rose gold models and two diamond-paved yellow gold models. All of them adopt a slightly tamer appearance with the delicate preciousness of a semi-paved look.
The ‘medium’ yellow gold Panthère measures 36.5mm x 26.7mm and has a slim 6.8mm profile. It has a semi-paved case and bracelet set with 187 sparkling diamonds. The ‘smaller’ yellow gold Panthère is 30.3mm x 22mm and just over 6mm thick with 179 diamonds.
The ‘small’ rose gold Panthère model measures 30.3mm x 22mm x 6mm and is set with 179 diamonds, while the ‘mini’ rose gold model measuring 25mm x 20mm and set with 175 diamonds.
Except for the ‘Zebra-dial’ model, the four other models feature classic silver dials with no date display and blued steel sword-shaped hands for a clean and elegant aesthetic. The exotic zebra dial model has steel sword-shaped hands with a rose gold finish on the dial. It’s particularly alluring to see how the case and dial align. All the watches are powered by Quartz movement and offer 30 metres of water resistance.

4. Cartier Panthère ‘Jewellery’ Watch
This Panthère bangle merges several of Cartier’s iconic stylistic codes: the three-dimensional panther and the ‘Toi & Moi’ bracelet style. This hybrid architecture, uniting the Maison’s fine watchmaking with jewellery in a bangle watch, is nothing but a pure work of art.
One half of the bangle features a leaping panther, and the other half is a minimalist watch head that is elegantly integrated into the design. Cartier has released the Panthère jewellery watch in two versions.

The first is a true jewellery timepiece in white gold set with a staggering 1100 diamonds. The eyes are made of emerald, and they are gazing towards a diamond-set watch face on the other end of the bangle. The watch owes its realism to the fur setting, with metal folded around onyx to resemble fine strands of fur. Against the panther, diamonds are entirely paved throughout in a snow-like setting, from the dial to the bracelet and everywhere else in between.
Another version is in polished yellow gold with black lacquer for the spots, featuring tsavorite eyes and an onyx nose. This is a more structural representation of the panther. The sleek panther pounces towards a square watch with a black lacquer dial and diamond-paved bezel. The diamond at 12 o’clock as an hour marker gives the final touch of luxury.
These Cartier high-jewellery watches, with a sense of motion and purpose, are among the boldest watch designs of the year.

5. Boldly Braided Cartier ‘Tressage de Cartier’
Cartier delivers the sculptural Tressage collection with a literal twist. French for braid, Tressage is an interesting mix of volume and texture, and the Maison has depicted it beautifully in the new watches, blending gold, gemstones and diamonds.
To create unexpected beauty, Cartier has amplified the classic attributes of a watch. For example, instead of opting for the traditional geometric shape, it has transformed the oversized brancards into a twist that looks both sensual and organic.
The new Cartier Tressage collection arrives in four versions: a minimalist yellow gold model (Ref. HPI01689) featuring a black lacquer dial and shiny black strap, a two-tone yellow and white gold version (Ref. HPI01690) with 466 diamonds and a shiny beige strap, a full-pave white gold version (Ref. HPI01693) with 916 diamonds and a soft navy strap, and a white gold and blue model (Ref. HPI01691) featuring 570 diamonds and 330 sapphires with shiny navy blue strap.

Each model comes with an elongated rectangular case (56.2 x 25.7 mm) draped by two asymmetrical twists. For the white gold version, the twists and dial are paved with snow-set diamonds. For the mixed gold model, two twists of gold and diamonds surround the rectangular dial paved with snow-set diamonds. For the yellow gold variation, solid yellow gold braids border the bright black watch face, and the one with white gold and blue has twists of diamonds and blue sapphires.
Powered by a quartz movement, they offer water resistance up to 30 metres and come fitted on both smooth and shiny calfskin straps, underscoing the contrast of materials and finishes.
With the new Tressage watches, Cartier continues to explore the unique and atypical territory so dear to the brand – creating timepieces of a third kind, fusing jewellery and watchmaking. To us, it’s yet another example of what Cartier is capable of.
