2025 Met Gala Watch Highlights: 15 Watches That Stole The Spotlight

Fashion’s biggest night – the MET Gala once again mesmerised audiences worldwide with its dazzling convergence of art, couture and celebrity. The theme of the evening was ‘Tailored for You’, aligning with the Costume Institute’s exhibition ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, which honours the profound legacy and future of Black Fashion.

While the looks were loud, the wristpieces were even louder.

As usual, the stars came dressed in their best attire for the year's biggest red carpet. But beyond the creative haute couture suiting looks and breathtaking sculptural gowns, this year’s event promised an unforgettable display of wrist pieces. From classic dress watches to high-jewellery creations and everything else in between, these watches are as carefully curated as the outfits themselves!

1. A$AP Rocky - Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC

Kicking off with A$AP Rocky, who doesn’t follow trends, but sets them. You literally couldn’t ask for a better co-chair than him. Arguably one of the most popular and now best-dressed rappers in the entire music industry, A$AP Rocky brought some serious horological game to the red carpet as he was spotted wearing the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC for the occasion.

The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Ref. 104081 is acclaimed to be the world’s thinnest mechanical watch with a thickness of just 1.70mm. Also, as the name suggests, it is the world’s thinnest COSC-certified chronometer, featuring the manually wound BVL180 Calibre that beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The watch feels less like a timekeeper and more like what modern luxury should look like, presenting a sleek, monochromatic aesthetic and an openwork dial. Extremely exclusive with only 20 pieces, it is a statement of style and Italian elegance.

2. Maluma - Jacob & Co. Emerald Billionaire III

Colombian singer Maluma took Jacob & Co’s already outrageous Emerald Billionaire III timepiece and levelled it up with his custom Chavarria suit, featuring a floral long blazer, matching wide-leg dress pants, and a black pant with pink roses. This made a cultural statement that paid homage to Pachucos. Yet with all the fashion and drama, it was that one watch, peeping from under the cuff that won Maluma the award for the most expensive outfit of the night.

Maluma’s jaw-dropping Emerald Billionaire III from Jacob & Co. looks incredible, studded with almost 656 emeralds, which matched his other emerald jewellery from SILEO. The 18ct white gold case, bridges, bracelet, case frame, inner ring and bracelet are all set with emeralds. The Billionaire III is the ultimate combination of high-end watchmaking and high jewellery, taken to their utmost levels. The skeleton movement is set with 57 baguette-cut diamonds and features a one-minute tourbillion, apart from 167 other components. Large, assertive and gleaming with the lights of emeralds - the Billionaire III is the perfect high-level flex for the glitziest red carpet of the year.

3. Pusha T – Rolex Daytona ‘Rainbow’

American rapper and co-host Pusha T paired one of the most distinctive Rolex Daytona chronographs for the event with his iced-out red double-breasted suit. His watch was equally colourful as the sequins dripping down the shoulders and lapels of his suit. The off-catalogue Rolex Daytona ‘Rainbow’ Ref. 116595RBOW is a bold expression of the brand’s gem-setting expertise, and Pusha T certainly made a statement with this unique jewel-encrusted piece on fashion’s biggest night.

This rare and highly sought-after Daytona variation in rose gold with a dazzling array of multi-coloured sapphires on the bezel, complemented by diamond-set lugs and hour markers, is a sight to behold. Speak of the flashiest takes on Rolex’s most coveted model; the Rainbow Daytona certainly stands out with its ethereal look. 4. Colman Domingo – An ‘Unreleased’ Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional

This is the watch that got us zooming the most! Actor Colman Domingo, acclaimed for both his talent and sartorial elegance, arrived at the MET Gala wearing an ‘unreleased’ Speedmaster watch in 18ct gold. Although the brand hasn’t yet revealed any details about the new watch, this teaser definitely got us all hooked on Domingo’s fashion-focused Valentino look.

The yet-to-be-released Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in Moonshine Gold resembles a standard 42mm Moonwatch with a reverse ‘Panda’ dial. The handset also seems to be in gold with the tachymeter bezel in white and the minute markers in white on the dial. The actor teased the watch from under the cuff. Guess we’ve got to wait a little longer to discover more about this piece. It was clever for Omega to outfit Ambassador Colman Domingo with an unreleased watch for the red carpet, knowing the buzz it would generate.

5. Jeff Goldblum - Jacob & Co. Ashoka Diamond Boutique Watch

The MET Gala is no place for subtlety, and Jeff Goldblum’s fully diamond-paved Jacob & Co. Slender Ashoka Diamond Boutique watch screams attention! The watch quite literally blurs the line between horology and high jewellery. Some celebrities opt for the most dazzling forms of wristwear no matter the season, and this sort of glitz goes beyond the Gala.

The Slender Ashoka Diamond Boutique timepiece from Jacob & Co. is a gaudy wrist piece with almost 64 carats of diamonds. Actor, model, and television host Henry Golding puts a twist on dandyism with the Cartier Tank a Guichets, which fits the bill perfectly. Released at this year’s Watches and Wonders, this newly launched Cartier is one of the most talked-about watches this year, and hats off to Henry for pulling off this classic look with such panache.

The Cartier Tank a Guichets Ref. WGTA0234 in yellow gold is a truly distinctive timepiece with an unconventional time display. The watch features jumping hours and dragging minutes presented through small apertures or ‘Guichets’ rather than a full dial and traditional hands. The model remains faithful to a rare 1928 original and stands out as one of the most loved watches at the MET Gala. 7. Shah Rukh Khan – Patek Philippe Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar

In a night of cinematic royalty and horological grandeur, Shah Rukh Khan – Asia’s richest movie star and one of the most beloved actors globally arrived at the MET Gala 2025 wearing a watch that left even the most seasoned collectors speechless. 8. Serena Williams - Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini ‘Frosted Gold’

9. Walton Goggins - Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Openface

The White Lotus star, Walton Goggins, wore a masterpiece of miniaturisation on the MET Gala carpet and had every inch of spotlight on him as he walked across, wearing a long cape-like coat and dress with a deliberately unfinished aesthetic. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts scored high in the horological stakes as he made his MET Gala debut and first appearance as a newlywed, wearing the Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43. Staying true to the theme, there was a noticeable absence of vibrancy on the red carpet until Regé-Jean Page arrived. Owning the spotlight, the British actor stunned in a bold red suit, topped with a draped double-breasted overcoat that added a touch of timeless glamour. He accessorised it with a fantastic archive piece from the vaults, circa 1974.

Complete with a barrel-shaped case, the TAG Heuer Carrera Ref. 110.515 CHN looks charming in a yellow gold body with champagne ‘Panda’ sunray-brushed dial and a Côtes de Genėva finish. This reference is worn on a solid gold three-link bracelet and powered by the in-house Calibre 12, beating at 21,600 vph. The grail timepiece clearly worked for Page as he found one of the rare watches that could keep up with his looks.

14. Omar Sy - Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph

French actor Omar Sy gave his MET Gala ensemble a layer of sophisticated complexity with the limited edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in pink gold. The ‘Reverso’ has an instantly recognisable design, allowing the case to be flipped to protect the dial and reveal a second dial on the other side. Omar Sy completed his look wearing Ozwald Boateng's green and yellow suit for a polished yet cool appearance.

15. Saquon Barkley - H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack

With a dress code that provoked little fuss, it was the understated watches that claimed the spotlight. American footballer, Saquon Barkley, turned up wearing one of the coolest watches of the night with the H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack (Ref. 1805-1200). It’s great to see an athlete supporting an independent watchmaker, especially when he chose to wear the stealthiest model from the brand’s lineup.

Crafted in 18ct white gold and powered by the self-winding HMC 804 Calibre, the watch is highlighted by its deep space-like dial. The dial is made of ‘Vantablack’—the world’s darkest material—void of any markers, logo, or unnecessary embellishment. It’s a super simple yet very complicated watch, with a hypnotic tourbillion at 6 o’clock, making a striking contrast against the Vantablack dial. Barkley kept things classy with a simple tux and let his wrist piece do all the talking.
