Rolex launches new watches of novelties for 2021, and they are already creating a lot of buzz in the luxury watch world. In September 2020, Rolex expanded its Oyster Perpetual and Submariner line, focusing more on new dial variations and incorporating gems on ladies’ watches.
This year, the leading Swiss watchmaker has upgraded many of its mainstay collections, including brand new offerings to the Explorer and Daytona lineup. It is customary of Rolex to celebrate its creations’ centenaries in respective years. That said, the brand was not going to overlook the 50th anniversary of Explorer II.
Many people anticipated that Explorer II might receive an update this year. Rolex confirmed it on April 4, 2021, with the new releases at the Watches and Wonders. However, many may not have speculated that the brand new Explorer II model will now house an automatic Calibre 3285 dual-time movement.
Let’s explore the new Rolex watches that have already become some of the biggest watch news of the year.
Rolex unveiled a new Explorer II reference featuring a stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter and a matching steel bezel. The watch looks almost identical to its existing sibling, the Reference 16570.
Furthermore, Rolex has only refined the case to sport less chunky and slimmer lugs. The new lug design should not come as much surprise as the brand typically tends to slim down its newer models’ profile.
Rolex adds a bi-tone Explorer for the first time to its iconic adventurer tool collection, and it is ideally the most unexpected Rolex release. The Reference 124273 comes in ‘Yellow Rolesor’ – a combination of 18ct yellow gold and 904L Oystersteel made in-house.
However, this year, watches are trending more petite this year as Rolex unveils the Explorer 124273 with a gender-neutral 36mm case size.
Rolex also added a stainless steel Reference 124270 to the new generation of Explorer watches. Like the new Reference 124273, the stainless steel version also features a 36mm case and black dial.
To date, Rolex has not discontinued any of its popular watch collections. Instead, the watchmaker has fiddled with different materials, dial tones and other components.
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona collection houses the in-house automatic Calibre 4130 chronograph.
The new Rolex dial treatments integrated into the Datejust 36 line are already capturing collectors’ attention worldwide. Rolex offered two new dial styles to the Datejust 36 watches – one is a tropical palm motif and another is a fluted pattern inspired by the popular pie-dish Rolex bezel designs. Moreover, every dial style is offered in gold, silver and olive green.
Rolex upgraded and expanded its Day-Date 36 lineup in 2021 by adding gem-set models. Available in 18ct white, Everose or yellow gold, the new Day-Date 36 watches are adorned with diamonds and striking turquoise, burgundy or coral numerals. What boosts the appeal is the croc leather strap that matches the colour of hour markers.
Just wait to see the 2021 Lady Datejust this July in stores, embellished with 1,089 diamonds across its bezel, case, dial and even the yellow gold President bracelet.
Rolex is synonymous to luxury and fame. It is allegedly the most esteemed watch brand that has set a standard in the horology industry with its avant-garde creations over the years.
However, it is indeed a matter of patience to acquire a Rolex watch. The most sought-after Rolexes can have you on a waiting list of up to nearly 5 to 6 years. And it is obvious as demand surpasses supply.
Why Rolex has so much craze? This Geneva-based Swiss watchmaker produces timepieces with incredible durability and precision. They are Superlative Chronometer certified. However, another significant fact that escalates the demand of Rolex watches is –
Rolex is one of the few watch brands whose watches retain value and also, appreciate over time, making them worthy of investment.
Nevertheless, the brand introduced its new 2020 watches that come with the incredible power of attraction, and you cannot afford to miss it. So let’s take a look at the most popular Rolex watches that are on the trend this year.
Rolex has a wide array of iconic watch collections in its catalogue. However, the models that are evoking the most vehement passion from collectors in 2020 are the Rolex Submariner and the GMT-Master. These are two of the cornerstone and ultimate professional watches available in the brand’s catalogue.
Rolex revived the Submariner lineup and introduced the new 41mm Submariner versions. Eventually, the 41mm size has become one of the most famous case diameters, appealing to both men and women.
The new Rolex Sky-Dweller also comes with equally attractive features to lure its global enthusiasts.
Among the Rolex 2020 launches, the watch that is celebrating unanimous craze and praise across the world is the Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date in stainless steel.
What boosts its appeal is the green Cerachrom bezel encircling the upgraded 41mm case.
On the contrary, the Calibre 3230 made its debut with the updated Oyster Perpetual Submariner version.
Rolex also flashed its popular Oyster Perpetual collection for 2020, introducing it in 41mm size for the first time. And the 41mm is the unmistakably popular diameter for this year.
However, the 36mm Oyster Perpetual version is no lagging behind. The brand unleashed this lineup offering vibrantly colourful dials, including turquoise and coral.
Furthermore, Rolex launched a grey Rolesor edition of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31 for 2020. What’s more tempting is that the new Datejust also comes in coloured dials – White lacquer, Anthracite, Mint Green, and Aubergine.
The Calibre 2236 powering the new grey Rolesor Datejust, serves as the cherry on the top. This movement features a Rolex’s patented silicon balance-spring.
So which is your favourite among these Rolex novelties? What model are you looking to own to be on vogue? Well, no matter which one you choose, you will have to wait patiently. The waitlist is as usual long.
